Yeah for adventures into the unknown! Last night Melissa and I ventured into Queen Anne to see a movie at Uptown Theatre. We saw Asylum which was much better than I figured it was going to be. It was a story that made complete sense to us (Melissa and Me). Crazy in love, crazy for love and just plain crazy!
Uptown (Queen Anne) is so adorable. We've tossed around the idea that we'll move there when the lease on our place is up. Capital Hill is great, I mean it is the gay area, but it's gone down hill relatively quickly in the last six months. When you're leaving for work in the morning and there's Jack in the Box garbage on your front steps, and a homeless man sitting next to your car door and you're terified to get out - it's time to go. And you know, I was telling Melissa last night, "Every step I've made since I've moved to Seattle has been a step forward. I'm ready to make that next step." Uptown would definitely be a step up and in the right direction; it's basically the same layout as Capital Hill minus the crazies. I know that our lease isn't up until February (January if we want to be technical), so it'll be awhile before a move will be taking place, but I'm very optimistic about the change. Plus it will be nice to have a new place that she and I can call, unequivocally, OURS.
We're moving storage units in the near future. I rented out a great one in Kirkland before I moved to Seattle. At that time I was living in a two bedroom townhouse with a roomate (as you all know by now) and I knew the transition to a small apartment in Seattle was going to be tough. It's pretty large, and holds most of my things from my grandparents, which translates to a large sum of $$. Not to mention we're also renting out a small storage unit in the basement of our apartment. That adds up quite quickly. Speaking of $$, we're refinancing our car too. We dropped our APR by 6 points. That was much needed. We save so much! You know, it would be so nice to refinance the Honda down to a normal payment.
I worked a bit on the screenplay. I'm actually going to have a few hours to work on it tonight because Melissa has a focus group to go to and won't be home until 10:45pm. I'm thinking a little pow-wow at the Capital Hill Cafe is in order. Gosh, I haven't been there once since Mel moved here. I miss it. It's a great atmosphere for writers.
