My eyes are a little watery....

I really don't watch many French movies. Like probably most everyone on the planet, I've seen Amelie, and a few others with Audrey Tautou. Also, The Triplets of Belleville, and a random recent watch - PopulaireI love this song - I will warn that it has some things with Josephine Baker in this video that are a little "extra" (i.e. racist), even ( Read more... )

Ylvis! They're my most recent obsession, I love them so much. <3

Based on the French movies I've seen, I think they're definitely accurate about some French movies, although I can't say I've seen any with notable goat scenes that I can recall... or people crying milk.

I love the Triplets of Belleville, and Amelie, of course! I really like a lot of French movies, though I wouldn't say I'm an expert.

WHERE ARE ALL THESE ELUSIVE GOAT SCENES??!!!??? D-:

I've mainly only watched French comedies (of course, some of Audrey's movies were historical pieces), so I wasn't sure if they were off-base with the parody or not.

Even though I'm tired of "The Fox," I am appreciative, (since I probably wouldn't have heard of them otherwise) b/c they are currently filling my Flight of the Conchords hole in my heart. Not sure if I've said this to you before - if so, sorry for the repeat!

I have no idea! Next time I watch a French movie, I know what I'll be looking for...

"The Fox" sort of weirdly grew on me- I wasn't into it when I first heard it, but now I just think "Ylvis!" and get all happy whenever I hear it. I can certainly understand being tired of it at this point though! They have much better songs, but I am definitely glad for its existence too, since I doubt I would have discovered them otherwise! And no, you haven't said that to me before. :)

I am hoping the French-speakers on my FL sees this and sheds light on this very important goat question, ha.

It must've been hamsterwoman, since I know she's talked about "The Fox" in her journal (where I believe I recced her "The Cabin").

In 16 hours...it's gonna be hot!

I must admit "The Fox" has weirdly grown on me, too. I still think it's the stupidest thing ever, but it's so catchy, now it just makes me laugh. The rodents and I sing it when we walk to my parents' house XD

French person here and I second that this parody is accurate. Except for the goat scene.

I tend to say that half of French movies are about 30-year-olds wondering what to do with their lives and the other half are about 40-year-olds regretting what they've done with their lives.

I watch very few French movies but my favourite is "Astérix & Obélix : Mission Cléopâtre". I laughed so much.

I am sad that Ylvis has toyed with my emotions in regards to goats (we had a few when I was a kid). ;_;

I'd heard about Asterix & Obelix, but haven't dug up any of the comics or films or anything. Thanks for the rec, I'm always looking for good funny movies! <3

I know no movies about goats, sorry, but there are some weird goat pics around Tumblr (the vertical things they can climb, it's scary).

I never read the comics, actually I hardly ever read any French or Belgian comics, but I saw the first three movies and the second one (Mission Cléopâtre) is my favourite.

Yeah, mountain goats are freaky with their climbing ability. I'm assuming you're talking about the pics with the goats in Italy climbing the side of an older dam? The goats we had were generally Nubians, so they really didn't have much opportunity to climb mountains or anything.

I was being VERY tongue-in-cheek with the whole goats in the movies thing. I know it can be sometimes hard to tell when people are joking online. Sorry. I'd really only expect animated movies or something to have anything with goats, but I was prepared to be sufficiently impressed if it was actually a popular thing in French movies, for some weird reason. XD Ylvis...such tricksters.

Will have to check the movies out!

Yeah, I saw more recently. Found them.

Don't worry, I wasn't imagining you literally crying over the lack of goats in French movies, though our cinema is so weird it could have been a thing.

Lol, that goats in the tree pic is crazy. (Our goats just liked to strip bark off of trees and never really tried to climb them.)

I'm sure the goat in the first picture thinks "aw, you humans that like to rock climb with all of your gear are just adorable."

With pics like that, you never know if they're real or photoshopped. XD But considering the crazy things goats do, it's probably real.

I tend to believe all of the mountain related ones, but you're right, the tree *could* be 'shopped. But if they can walk on little tiny crevices, branches would be no big deal, probably. Although looking at the tree pic again, it's a bush-like tree, so they might have had an easier time getting up there. Our goats were "tree-blocked" by trees with a single trunk. XD

You're right about the multiple trunks, that makes it more believable.
