[Vincent may never have flown so hard in his life. The drop was staggering, and the crash makes his ears ring and something underneath his senses screech--and for a second he wonders if he has Galian and the rest back--and then they begin to sink.

He holds onto the railing, grinds his teeth.]

Oh Minerva damn it all.

[It's a calm sort of tone that one can take when you're dying]

Too late to abandon ship?

[Vincent looks at him with a look he hasn't used in years--"Where the hell have you BEEN?!"--and then his expression hardens. Still not touching the ground because of his ruined leg, he dips slightly, puts his human arm around Veld's waist and pulls him up.

Veld weighs more than him, but he's noticeably shorter, and Vincent fits him against his side as easily as if the older man were full of feathers. His voice is a hiss, full of emotion and determination.]

Like hell.

[And with that he pulls them both up into the air over the ship.]

[Up in the air, they should be able to see the very edge of a piece of land, about a mile away.]

[Vincent wastes absolutely no time, turning in the air and shooting for the sliver of something in the distance. He brings his comm up to his mouth as he goes and shouts into it.]

[Kim bursts onto the deck below them, not long after, arms waving.]

[Not long after telling Vincent not to worry about her, and Kimiko to stay put, Sephiroth swooped down, landing approximately ten feet from her, and motioned.]

Move. Quickly.

[Kim doesn't hesitate. In that time she's seen the fliers and Remy's teleportation magic in action. She's done the math- some people might have to swim a little, but they'll make it. They'll all make it.

She runs to sephiroth, cursing how unabashedly beautiful all these men seem to be. Gawd, why is she so ugly, and full of utter failure.]

Let's go.

[He wrapped an arm around Kimiko's waist, not really noting the closeness it caused.]

Hold on. I've never done this before.

[He bent his knees slightly, flapped his one wing, and sprang into the air, catching an updraft and heading off in the direction Vincent had flown.]

[Actually she's wondering about the aerodynamics of one-winged flight which by the way make no sense and- she's just about to draw breath to tell you aaaaaaaaaall about it, Sephiroth, when your downbeat presses all the air out of her lungs.

...and now she's too distracted by how glorious flying is to care. Have one robot arm and another slim girlyarm wrapped around your neck, prettyboy.]

[He doesn't get how it works either, Kimiko. He's working on instinct alone here. And you can all discuss the aerodynamic impossibilities when you're safely on land.

Here's a clue, though. His flight is accompanied by an oily sensation that also sort of prickles. If she knows anything about magic, then she'll know that's probably what it is.

And that it's not exactly good magic.]

[If Kim was asked, there is no such thing as magic. There is only parts of the world that science has not yet thoroughly explained; natural principles that have yet to be discovered and tamed to our hand.

Calling something magic and ending the discussion there is as much an insult to humanity as genocide. But that's not what she's thinking about as they near and eventually touch down on the shore beside Vincent and the others.

It's that they all nearly died, and it's all her fault. Twice.]

[Of course, when they get there and all she see is.... Vincent and Veld kissing, she'll just...quietly come back and sit on a rock. Shattered.

But isn't that just the way her life always goes? Doesn't mean she won't cry.]

[He'd had his suspicions about Veld and his father, but the confirmation didn't phase him. The question of sexuality had never entered into his equation, sliding in under the radar.

He'd always had other things to focus on.

He didn't understand why Kimiko was crying, or where they were, but standing on a beach wasn't going to solve anything.]

[Vincent is fast, but not fast enough and he knows it. Kim is being taken care of, he has to trust the rest to tend to themselves. If he doesn't get word from Reno soon, he'll go back for him the moment he has Veld on solid ground.

Which will probably be a few minutes, although that sliver is growing fast.]
