Long post....random things.....

Today is the first day I've been all by my lonesome (with Conrad, of course) since Christmas Eve! I spent a lot time at home in Southern Indiana which was nice. It's especially hard now to come back to Indianapolis now that we have the wee one. All ghetto and shit..yo.

I really would like to move away soon. Michael has school to finish and I have my job, but my neighborhood is no place for a kid to grow up. I'm realizing now how my parents felt when Molly and I were growing up and the neighbor kids taught me the "n" word at age 4 or so because that is what they named their black cat. They also repeatedly called me a "faggot" at the age of 4 too..wtf?!?!.

We can't afford a nice neigborhood. But a smaller town, with good schools might be an option.

Anyway....

I decided that as kind of a New Years Resolution, of sorts, that I wanted to patch things up with some old friends of mine from back home. The night after Christmas I saw my best friend that I hadn't spoken to in 8 years. We fell out of touch after some stupid shit happened and I was so happy to see her. I have known Laura since I was probably 6 years old (we had to endure Catholic elementary school together and the mean "Sister Jolinda"...a name that still makes me feel physically ill to hear...the stories about Catholic school were true, kids!!! haha).

Then, on New Years Eve I came back up to Indy and my parents kept Conrad in Vincennes with them for the evening so I could go out with another old friend. I hadn't seen or spoken to Nikki since we had a falling out about 8 years ago. It was nice to see her before she left for Iraq last weekend.

We were all very close in high school. I only wish that we all three could have hung out together, but I'm just happy I was able to see both of them. It was like we started up right where we had left off.  I needed their positivity right now.  It was great.  It's a wonderful feeling to not have a single person that you're not on good terms with.  People don't need that shit.

Christmas was awesome.  Michael got me earrings!  This is the first time a boy has ever gotten me jewelry that isn't from Claire's lol :)  They are beautiful and I wear them everyday.  He's a splendid young man.

My Mother gave us kickass Cuisinart pots and pans!  It's so weird to have cookware that doesn't feel like the handles are going to fall off!  YESSS!  My Mother In-Law bought me a..........NEW SEWING MACHINE!!!!!!  YaY!  Now I just have to save up some extra fundage to take a class. I used to sew back in high school a little bit, but I don't remember a lot about those years.  Mom could teach me but she lives 2.5 hours away -_-,  Anyway, I got a hobo bag pattern and some awesome Brady Bunch looking flannel with some orange polka-dot lining just waiting for me!!

This is a cheeseball mom and I made:

Here are mom's two new walnut characters:

These are just two of them this year.  She usually makes about 4 or 5 characters every year.  She's been doing this since she was pregnant with me.  28 years ago!  She has a whole tree of them!!!  I <3 my mom....

Conrad had a good first Christmas :-)

This was taken after he escaped elf prison.

Michael's bro, Ross, came home on Christmas from NYC to see Conrad for the first time.  This is probably one of my favorite pictures:

My mother in law is in the background and she looks happy.

Conrad got a bunch of Little Golden Books, a little seat, a tummy time rotating thing, rattles, toys that light up...all the stuff that a 2 month old doesn't even realize is kickass yet, but he will...oh yes.
He was held nonstop by family members for a consecutive five days straight.  Spoiled rotten, he is.  But, man I love this kid.  I didn't know it was possible.  God, do I sound like Kathy Lee Gifford?  If so, please shoot me.

Yesterday we had to take him to Dr. Rachel's to get his vaccines.  He has his first fever...I think it's like 101.  I can't really tell because I took his temp in his armpit and I don't know how accurate that is.  All I know is that  you add a degree and the thermometer said 100.  Surprisingly, he is still smiling.  I tried to keep his fever a secret from him, because when I was a kid I would milk illnesses for ALL they were worth.   I could convince people into buying barbies and My Little Ponies to make me feel better...
