They say a rolling stone gathers no moss. If that is true of Dragons then after today I am completely moss free!
It began with an urgent trip up the free way to the Department of Motor Vehicles in Murray Bridge today, courtesy of a friend who was good enough to drive me up there.
You see, I renew my driver's license annually. This year the due date snuck by me on Sunday so as of yesterday it was illegal for me to drive. Now, I've run the risk in the past, naughty girl that I am, and have driven to the Department of Motor Vehicles to renew my license, but this time something told me not to risk it. After all, if I were in an accident, the new car is a very valuable car to damage and get no insurance because I was technically 'unlicensed'.
So, being a good girl, I batted my eyes at a friend and she drove me up so I could be legal again. While up there we took the time to enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the local hotels and it was yummy!
Afterwards we stopped in Mount Barker so I could pick up the easter gifts for my family while neither of them are with me, as well as check out bluetooth headsets for use with the new phone.
Having done that, my friend dropped me back home and left to pick up her son from school. As I walked up to the door there was a notice on it - our phones had arrived! I could collect them from the local post office, which I promptly did...:)
After a lot of being mucked around by telstra I finally got it so I could put the new prepaid simcard in one of our phones and test the coverage - which has proven to be excellent. After Troll came home from school I took her out to hang out at the Mt Barker Macca's McCafe where we had some lovely ice cold frappes, all the while keeping an eye on how well the coverage was on the mobile.
And don't even get me started on Telstra taking 4 -5 working days to unlock troll's mobile!
Satisfied it was time for the Great Unwrapping - that's when you actually get the new phone out of its box for the first time and try to figure out how to work it.
Now, five hours later, I have figured out most of what I need for now, I've populated my phone book on the phone and uploaded some music from my pc. I've yet to sort out the software on tygrr's pc but I shall do that shortly before I head to a lovely cool bath. Did I mention how awfully hot it was today, especially up at Murray Bridge? I don't do heat well and am really hanging out for my bath.
Oh, and let's not forget to mention I've done all this today on two and a half hours sleep last night! One guess who's going to be napping tomorrow!
Now though, the real surprise of the day was the actual size of the new phones. They are TINY! Here is a pic of mine next to a pen and my mouse. My mouse btw is a small children's mouse.
See.. tiny!
I do rather like it though. It's very lightweight and I like the set up of the keypad - after having used it half the night to key in the names and numbers into it. You can literally operate it with one hand. One touch at the right spot and the top cover swivels open, and it's easily closed with one hand too - and that's for me with small hands!
And because of the massive 1gig of memory built in I've been able to upload heaps of music from my pc, as well as my hypnotherapy tracks. I've not been able to listen to them at night before bed as I've misplaced the cds they came on, and of course my pc is now in a different room. Now though it's a simple case of plugging in the hands free (it came with free corded handsfree) and I'm in action again!
However, speaking of tiny things, here's the most recent pic of my patient.
With Uncle Moosie
As you can see, he's looking much brighter. Don't take any notice of the squinty eyes. He and Moose both squinted when the flash went off! He's up and about, eats with a good appetite and is starting to play. And, as tygrr will verify, is cuteness personified. His clumsy attempts to do grown up cat stuff is really just too adoreable for words!
So, although it has been a very hectic and hot day, it's also been very productive, a lot of fun and also had plenty of 'awwwww, how cute' moments too!
Now though, that bath calls, so I best go sort out tygrr's pc and then get to bed.
Oh, and also, lets NOT mention how I pulled a muscle in my back on the weekend.... from reading a book! The book is a big heavy hard cover copy of The Other Boleyn Girl and it has enthralled me, which has meant I have lain in bed reading it late at night for hours on end - and I hold the book with my left hand, as that's the side the light is on. After three nights, one cold morning I moved my hand to pick up my glasses and something in my very tight and achy back went 'TWANG!!!!'
Lots of massage with heat rub later, it's bearable again and the book is finished - although I DID get a copy of The Boleyn Inheritance from the library today, which is another heavy hardcover copy. We shall try not to injure ourselves reading it this time, I promise! But I didn't mention that!
Ok, off to do pc and then into the bath!
Au Revoir!
