A few years ago after my first year at university I was invited to join an international society. I had done really well in first year uni and made the Dean's List with my result.
This also led to the invitation by the Golden Key International Honour Society for Academic High Achievers to become a member of said Honour Society. One paid a once off membership fee to join and we were assured that there would be many benefits of becoming a member. It would open doors to unique employment opportunities, they said, for many companies only recruit through Golden Key. At the induction ceremony the key-note speaker referred to we, the inductees, as the people who will shape the world of tomorrow.
Heady stuff, indeed.
From time to time I get newsletters from Golden Key in my inbox and employment offers but I must confess the one that caught my attention recently had to be this one. I really could not believe my eyes as I read it!
Dear Magnificient Dragon, (ok, it didn't say that, it had my name, but you get the drift)

Now, if I read this right, they are inviting me to be a spy?
Well, it has tickled me for a couple of weeks now as I see it sitting there still in my inbox. It certainly tickled Troll to think that her mum had been invited to be a spy. Mind you, we were watching The Bourne Ultimatum the other night and seeing everyone trying to shoot Jason Bourne, and she turned around in the middle of it and said, 'See, this is why you are NOT allowed to be a spy!'
And besides, do I really look like Jane Bond material?
(Sorry if it's a bit blurry. It was taken with my webcam as the digital camera just would not catch the colour of the pink streak in my fringe right. Digital can do that from time to time.)
Hmmm, perhaps more like someone out of 'Get Smart' than James Bond...lol. But then again, I suppose I wouldn't look too bad in a black trench coat... wait... that's flashers that wear them, isn't it, not spys!
If my hair were longer and I were less virtuous I could perhaps be another Matahari. Wasn't she the one who seduced people for information? Hmm.... maybe not. Tygrr might not like that much. But I DO have the perfect bedroom for seduction at the moment!
The new faux silk magenta quilt cover
It's not quite as vibrant as that but the fabric really shines up with the flash from the camera. It is beautifully rich fabric though and VERY warm for how light it is. Even with the nights down to 10C here at the moment I haven't had a blanket on with it, or had the quilt in the cover, so it's just the two thin pieces of fabric keeping me warm. The underside of it is polyester but the top is the faux silk and it sounds deliciously sensual when you move under it. It slithers and swishes! You can't see it well from the pic either, but it has a fine black pattern all across it too.
So I suppose I have to resign myself to my continued profession as a struggling writer. Although I could do a lot of travel and enquiry into things under the guise of 'research' for my books! And to keep my cover in tact they would have to ensure my books were published so my identity as an author was valid... *grins*
No?
*sighs*
Oh well. Still, it was a hoot for five minutes to contemplate joining the ranks of James Bond and colleagues!
As for my martini? Bugger shaken or stirred, I'll have mine whipped!...;)
