Hard at work!

Oct 20, 2007 21:02

They say there is no rest for the wicked, and now I know it's true!

I did get to sleep before 2.00am last night and was woken today by Masked Lady yowling in my room, which was most unusual. When I woke and called her she just sat near the doorway and would not come to me. Again, unusual. So, being awake and it being 8.30 I figured I might as well get up and headed down the hallway to the loo. I noticed the loungeroom doors were shut as were the kitchen door. Odd. So I opened them on my way past so I could fire up the pc and out bounded Jasmine! It seems when tygrr was up earlier and put the outside cats out she didn't realise Jasmine was in there and shut the doors and Masked Lady was doing a Lassie and telling me Jasmine was trapped!

After breakfast and a bit of relaxing it was time to make use of tygrr muscles and begin cleaning off the back verandah. While she toted the heavy stuffy off the verandah so it could be swept, I weeded the gardens that edge it... and took photos!

It was an utterly glorious day to be outside!

Chaz had to play big wild hunter in the weeds!

There were some piggies hiding in the bushes!

Troll put Flint in a harness and brought him outside - at first he was NOT impressed.

But troll coaxed him a little and he began to relax

And just to show I really WAS working and not just taking pics - one very grubby hand!

The piggies came out to graze as the afternoon wore on

After much hard work, the finished result!

Looking back at where I stood to take the previous pic

For perspective - that is an armchair and that is one HUGE fern!

Finally, Zachariah gives his seal of approval

I owe many thanks to tygrr for keeping my ferns alive over winter. I hadn't gone out the back at all this winter and they would have all been history if she had not watered them while she changed the cat and piggie waterbowls. As you can see from the HUGE fern in the pic, she has done a marvellous job!

After finishing out the back we moved to the front and weeded the front garden, swept the pathways and driveway, pruned the trees and shrubs by the side of the driveway and moved the birdbath. I did a more serious repair on the dragon statue with the broken arm - he now looks quite debonaire with a natty black sling for the affected limb - and then moved him to his new home in the front garden by the front door. No pics of him sorry as it was dark by then.

After tidying up outside I ran a couple of loads of washing through and then jumped in the bath. Tygrr veged a little with nintendo with the troll and is now just out of the shower.

Tomorrow morning I must go shopping as the cupboard is bare, and then I can relax until I leave to go down town for my writer's meeting. After the meeting I shall call my friend D to see if she needs any last minute assistance before moving house on Monday. If not I may drop around and have a coffee with M while I am down town - or if I am missing tygrr too much I may just head home.

Next week it is the turn of the kitchen and dining rooms to be cleaned which will be the end of all the inside spring cleaning. There is a linen wash that needs to be done and the last piece of vinyl must be laid - but that could happen tonight yet! Also the cars must be washed and on Wednesday I have promised to help D clean her old unit after having moved on Monday, but I shan't be going down there until after I have picked up Troll from school so I can take as long as I like to clean and not have to worry about rushing back to pick her up. I hope to have all my own household chores done by Wednesday so that helping D shall be the end of domestic committments and I can then spend the next week focussing on final preparations for my writing competition.

But tonight? Tonight I relax! There's nothing like putting one's feet up after a day spent working hard with good results.

And in all that, I didn't break one nail!
