Here are some snapshots from my day:
- Going to the kitchen for a glass of milk only to have a determined kitten lure me to sit on the floor with her so she can rub her soft furry body against me. Warm silkiness, trusting eyes, happy heart - all bundled into the beautiful body of a bluepoint siamese intent on getting some luuuurve!
- Laughter, passion and contentment with my girl snuggled close, enjoying the quiet time alone together.
- Eyes devouring the shimmering beauty of Amethyst, Flourite, Moonstone, Labradorite and so many more crystals at the Crystal shop at Strathalbyn. So much colour. So much beauty. So much natural energy in one small shop!
- The flavour of a chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich on fresh bakery bread, washed down with cool, clear apple juice...ahhhh! Utterly fantastic.
- The wonderful surprise of a postcard in the mail from a diary friend on holidays .. yay!
- And finally, finally, getting to sit and watch the sulphur-crested cockatoos at play in the paddock up the road. I could have sat and watched them for hours as they waddled, hopped and flew around the paddock. Their beaks and faces got blacker and blacker as they dug diligently looking for bulbs and roots. Often all you could see would be a tail sticking up through the grass and bits of black dirt flying to the side as a bird used its powerful beak to dig.
Of course, there had to be the clowns who would fly in low over the others, flicking their wings this way and that in the barnstorming tradition of planes of long ago. Sometimes a squawk where an ill-timed (or perfectly timed?) landing ended up square on the back of a bird already on the ground, followed by a bit of outraged crest flashing before settling in for more digging.
I did not have my camera on me today, but found these photos online to share with my american and british readers, hoping you might get a glimpse of the mischief and cheekiness of these beautiful birds who share my neighbourhood.

Clowning around
While we sat there today so many cars went up and down the road, going about their business, rushing home, rushing to work, rushing to pick up the kids, maybe do the shopping. Rushing past a simple, free, pleasure if only they took the time to stop and look. I'm glad I took the time at last.
