Ouch.
On May 15, 4th District Court Judge Katherine Forrest blocked the section of the NDAA that permits U.S. citizens to be detained indefinitely:As set forth above, this Court has found that plaintiffs have shown a likelihood of success on the merits regarding their constitutional claim and it therefore has a responsibility to insure that the public’s constitutional rights are protected.
The Obama administration is ignoring Forrest's ruling. As Alexander Higgins writes, "the NDAA is being used to silence critical reporting of the U.S. government," whom the FBI is categorizing as "terrorists". (Note that their list of "domestic terrorists" doesn't include conservative white Christians who do things like fly planes into buildings or shoot up abortion clinics.)

My son was picked up two years ago by county police who must have been bored, needed to harass a young black man for fun. They shackled him to a table while seven of them accused him of being a serial rapist from NM; all night long they went at him, and never allowed him to pee. I never asked, he never said, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he wet his pants before it was over.
Fuckers. They finally let him go, but I wanted him to sue their asses, forgetting for a time how that would go with a young black man as plaintiff.
A subsequent commenter writes,Forcing the victim to break toilet training is the rudimentary first “softening up” step for the torturer; it effectively communicates the helplessness of the subject to that subject better than anything else. It’s also the first step in the dehumanizing process of incarceration.
Tarheel Dem was probably fortunate not to have been beaten with batons.
On FDL, several commenters allude to Rahm Emanuel, mayor of Chicago, being Obama's former chief of staff. Emanuel has long been known as a thug, but mentioning this probably wouldn't have gone over well on dK, where, as Keori notes, not one of the Obamabots mentioned the NDAA at all or how it's used to disappear American citizens.
Because the only important thing for that bunch is electing Democrats over Republicans. Broken system? What broken system? Telling O-bots to keep fucking that chicken and hoping it lays a golden egg makes you "defeatist, vulgar, and disillusioned." Much better to stick your head in the sand.
