I agree with the top-rated YouTube comment: "This ad should be the start of the 2012 election campaign starting on Wednesday Nov. 3rd."
Rachel Maddow did a segment on the ad. Apparently the Ky. Dems decided to make and air it after the Rand campaign reversed its decision about keeping Tim "Stompy" Proffitt's $2,000 in donations.
In the video, Maddow's talking to Michael Moore about the ad. I can't believe he's being so squeamish about it.... "They wouldn't air an ad of someone kicking a dog, but they're airing an ad of someone kicking a woman."
OK, people's sensibilities differ, but I don't consider this ad exploitive of Lauren Valle at all. The ad isn't making what happened to her titillating or glamorizing it. They're showing what happened to her, and it's clear they find it despicable.
If you want to see a political stratagem I do find repulsive, consider the story written by the
douchebro with the terminal case of
Backpfeifengesicht who made out with Christine O'Donnell three years ago (and was too appalled out by her unshaven pubes to get it up).
ginmar has
a good takedown of this, with much nail-head-hitting about too many liberal d00ds in general.
I love
this comment about the anti-Rand vid:Well, the monocle fell out of my eye, and I clutched my pearls so hard the strand snapped, and they scattered all over the onyx tiles in my parlour room, and I fainted shortly thereafter and only came to after being served the vapours of smelling salts three times by three separate chambermaids, and yet I FUCKING LOVED IT.
Oh, and on a side note, the incident has inspired the
inevitable remix videos.
Unlocked.
