What can I say about Fadia's most recent posts besides -
WOAH MAMA!
Fadia has written 5 poems;
hearing,
sight,
taste,
smell,
touch.
I am so impressed by these poems. At first glance these poems may appear to be "the desires of a desperate housewife" but they are so much more than that. Fadia has created layers of images and emotions within her poetry. I was particulary moved by the following lines from her poems;
"The desire you possess
to own the universe
and me"
(From the poem 'Touch')
"forbidden desires
consumed in gluttonous haste"
(From the poem 'Taste')
"consumed by the whisper
of promises
unheard
from you"
(From the poem 'Hear')
Fadia has taken the five senses and uses them to explore the beauty of sexuality. I love having Fadia in our literature class. The rest of the class are aged between 20-26. Fadia is married and has four children. Her life is completely different to ours. She brings a totally new perspective to poems we study, the texts we discuss, and even to the situations that are going on in our individual lives. In her senses poems Fadia recognises the beauty of sexuality, but she also shows awareness of the danger that love and sex can pose.
Fadia has taken Blake's ideas and allowed herself to be immersed in them. She has created an amazing set of poems which show her talent in both poetry and in interpreting Blake.
Thanks Fadia for being such a top (and sexy) lady! Your poetry is fantastic and you should be really proud of youself!
