These last two weeks have flown by. Can't believe I'm back in Perth and back at work already.
We arrived in Darwin on the 13th, straight to the Cav for drinks and to catch up with the likes of Erin, Aaron, Noel, Mojo and Luther. All of whom became strong contenders in the weekend that was 'bucks & hens'. It was nice to catch up with old friends, life just seems to go on as it does, but when you sit down and catch up it seems as if for once, the world stops going so damn fast.
Stint had his bucks (or one of many bucks) at the Honey Pot, I joined him on one occasion and got my own personal dance and glasses smudged in girly bits. Interesting. I went out for my Hen's night, where Erin had supplied us with cock straws, and it poured. Ended up at Discovery listening to Warp Bros, which was not as bad as I thought it would be. Still not a Perth night out, but good company ensured that we had a rollicking good time.
Arrived in Cairns the following Tuesday to...rain, and lots of it. I have never ever seen so much rain in all my life. Roads were flooded the day before the wedding (always a good thing), and two nights before the wedding we were flooded out of my parents property where the wedding was. Missed out on my hens breakfast due to torrential rain whilst Mark enjoyed yet another bucks and stripper (beginning to think I got the short straw!). After a D&M with my parents the day before the wedding (as Cyclone Monica graced us with all her beauty) we discussed our options, whether to delay, whether to have the reception at a hotel. We decided to go ahead with everything, hoping for the best. And we got the best. The evening before the rain slowed to a pitter, and the wedding day, although overcast, was relatively rain free.
My poor mother got no sleep in the lead up, constantly glued to BOM website for updates.
The day itself was perfect. Could not have asked for better anything: husband, friends, family etc. Best move I've ever made.
Married life is no different, although my wedding ring means no one asks me for ID anymore. Feel like an old woman. Have to change all the official things in life (bank statement, license) to make it truely official, but Stint and I are continuing on as we did (albeit with his whole family now staying with us).
