Makes me think of the whole "It was a dark and stormy night..." thing, because OMG, seriously, IT WAS! Really, right in the middle of a rainy, thundery, windy storm last week, my laptop just died. So I think I was quite justified for a while there, in thinking maybe it was surge-related or angry storm God or SOMETHING!
But no. Just a virus (I don't mean that 'just'. I really really don't).
ANYWAY. Somehow, with every reasonable virus protection that you can have installed (and still have a machine that actually works) it was a virus.
And TWO factory restores later, I think maybe it's working? I'm typing, so that's good (even if the 'n' key does curiously seem to require 2 keystrokes to work). Whatever. I AM NOT COMPLAINING! (okay, I am, but it's more of a grumble, rather than the full scale freaking-out of earlier in the week :).
I did not know I was quite SO attached to my laptop. AND I have no idea how much of everything I've lost -- although I do know I lost a bunch of lovely TW links that were all ready for sharing so that is SAD.
But YAY! COMPUTER!
(restoring settings is doing my head in, but the double-keystroke on the n thing is going to get old REALLY FAST).
