"Don't call it a comeback... I've been here for years!"

Yes, this is my vain attempt to salvage any of my journal writing days. Between work and... well, work, I haven't had the time nor desire to post anything worth reading. I seem to get that way a lot, but I've acknowledged that I'm not the only one, so I don't feel so bad for neglecting my space.
However, since I last posted, there has been a good bit to write about, though I didn't have many words. Either way, I'll try to recap the last two months without boring anyone with a long, drawn out post:

NOVEMBER: From Nov. 3-5, I set foot in New York City for the first time in my life. The destination was double sweet because I ended up there on behalf of one of my favorite singing groups in my teens, H.i-F.ive. Yes, I, the girl who had a ridiculous crush on Tony Thompson between the ages of 12 and about 17, was meeting and hanging out with him and the rest of the group for two whole days, and experiencing the joys of the Big Apple for once in my life. And I'll be honest; though I can honestly say that I had a blast, it wasn't fully what it was cracked up to be. They guys were cool and nice and all, but two of them had their own personal drama that I got a chance to witness... the night of the release party (i.e. the same day we all arrived) was almost a bust, because whoever made all of the arrangements (at the last minute) had a family tragedy at the point of departure, and everything got screwed up. And to top it all off... well, I'll just say that adolescent crushes are always bound to be squelched once you come face to face. He's still cute... just not AS cute.

After about a month in the new apartment, I finally broke down and got cable... I hadn't had it for close to two years at the time, and having it back was a relief! Plus I got internet again, so I didn't have to rely on doing my design work from my office. It also made it easier for Sims 2 downloads.

Thanksgiving was surprisingly fun. I say that because it was the first time in years that I had spent with my own family- that being mom, Anthony (my stepdad), uncle and his girlfriend, and my grandmama (with whom I don't think I've ever spent Turkey Day with in my life- but that's only because she's a frequent traveler, and I give her serious thumbs up for that!). We all packed up and headed to Edisto Beach for the weekend. It wasn't warm enough to swim or anything, but hanging out oceanside is great no matter what temperature it is. The funniest/saddest moment was my mom assisting in breaking my cell phone... she paid half in getting a new one, at least.

DECEMBER: Ahhhh, the holidays are here again... While I can brag that it was the 2nd year of not being in retail during Christmas (the first year being involuntary), I still wasn't in a fully festive mood. Even still, it was a good holiday season... got the 19 inch flat panel monitor I wanted, a nice weekend getaway, and a little bonus from the company owners.
The only effed up moment? I would first like to say that I think that my car is a potential death trap. Along with the tire tread last December, the hit and run in April, yet another small disaster. On the 15th, we got a nice ice storm... it was more sleet and freezing rain than it was wind and snow, but I think that we can all agree that ice can be more damaging than snow any day. That morning, my uncle called me and told me he'd be running late because his power was out, and as soon as I hung up my phone, I heard the pleasant *CRACK*CRASH* in my front yard... walked outside and saw a tree-sized branch sitting behind the back of my car. Upon further investigation, I found my back window completely smashed in, a dent in my roof, and a nice sized dent in my trunk. Not exactly pleasant on a day where you have freezing rain and temps in the 20's. As soon as I get back into my place, the power shuts off. Basically, 90% of the greater Greenville area between Spartanburg and Anderson was out of power... I wouldn't get mine until a full week later. I drove as little as I could (which wasn't saying a lot), and spent most of the time at my mom's house, which ironically got power the next day- you'd have to know where she lives to know what I'm talking about. Luckily I was away for the weekend, but still, I liked being at my own place, although I had no problem staying with the folks. Insurance is covering my car at least, and I have another Malibu for a rental, that I wouldn't mind keeping!

JANUARY PROLOGUE:There wasn't much going on around here that you didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for, so my intentions were to stay in and chill out in front of the TV with a bottle of Andre and my Chambord my mom gave me. My next door neighbors are cool as hell, though; they came over and invited me to spend New Years with them. With Apple Martinis abound, South Park and a lot of random conversation, it ended up being a great end to 2005.
And now it's 2006... hard to believe that I'll have been out of high school for 9 years. The time has truly flown, and although life could be much worse, I still wish I had a lot under my belt post public schooling. I'm happy to at least still have a job (two if you count web designing), my health (or something like it), and a very special person in my life again. I stopped living in the future a long time ago, mainly because I still have so much to do in the present. I don't have any concrete resolutions under my belt, but I definitely have a few goals in mind. Here's to another new year.
