Lazy Afternoon

Hey Journal,

Today has been going smoothly. I woke up this morning with my mom bring me a smoothie for breakfast which was delicious. She brings me one with my medicine every morning. My dad also makes me do a workout every weekday morning. Today was a kettle bell workout but I did not really try too hard. I cannot seem to motivate myself to get a really good workout unless I see something in it for me. Sometimes I am motivated to lose weight and other times I just do not care or want to try. Dad did some real estate on the computer this morning and I got some of the taxes together. We are getting ready for tax season.

On Monday of this week, my dad and I went car shopping. We took the Toyota we already had in to get and oil change and other maintenance. But we also spoke with a dealer regarding purchasing a car. We spoke with Regina Wescott. She was black and pretty young. She was probably about my age. She was nice and eager to work with us. She looked up the two cars we had found online. They were both out of town. After comparing the two cars, Dad decided on the one for Columbia, SC. It had less miles but no sunroof. This new car is a 2014 Toyota Camry. He says that it is for me! I am excited to have a car again. But I know he needs a economical car for our business. Since I really work for him that is convenient. We work together everyday from home. Most of the driving I do is to the grocery store or the bank during the week. Maybe I might go to the apartments to pick up rent sometimes. I do drive to Myrtle Beach with my mom once a month but more often than not she drives and we drive her car. But now that I have a car that might change. Mom and Sharnequa do not like the idea of buying another Camry. They think Dad needs to save his money or at least spend it on something for the house. Mom says that Dad does no consult her with family decisions.

Last week Dad, Uncle Charlie and I raked the leaves up out of the yard. It really needed that. We usually rake at least 2 or 3 times towards the end of the year then once during winter the next year. While I was taking a break, I saw on the news that there were going to be several oyster festivals over the weekend. There were one or two on James Island or Folly Beach and the Boone Hall Oyster Festival. Last Sunday, I was the Worship Leader in Church so I did not go to the oyster roast. I sat in the pulpit and presided over the services. I did not do the Call to Worship like I used to do but I led the Hymn of Preparation and introduced the person that was giving the prayer. It was Young Adult Sunday. The HLF Young Adult/Youth Choir sang and I was at rehearsal. They sounded really good so I guess that rehearsal was worked. Reverend Footman gave the sermon. I recorded it on my phone and was planning on uploading it to the internet. I just emailed it from my phone.

Sharnequa got me a FitBit for Christmas last year. I wear it all the time. It counts my steps and monitors my sleep. My goal is 10,000 steps a day. Every time I reach that goal it blinks and vibrates. It keeps me motivated to stay active. Every evening that I do not reach my goal, I feel guilty about getting into bed. But I know that I did all that I could. Mom counts her steps also but on her cell phone. While it does not count all of her steps through out the day it gives her an idea of how active she is. On Tuesday, I took her car to get an oil change while she went to work so I had to pick her up after work. Although I was late, I asked if she wanted to go to King Street Grille for dinner. She said, "Yes". So we went but she did not order. I ordered a salad and a soda and we shared the salad. She goes there a lot of sort of knew the waitress. They made small talk. Usually when we go Mom orders a beer and I order some chicken wings and a soda. I posted to my Facebook that we were there and she left a comment!

Yesterday I got my haircut at Unlimited Cutz & Stylz by Mike Bradley, the barber. He owns the shop. There was a woman getting her hair shaped up when I got there and a young man waiting. After they were both finished it was my turn. I got in the chair but just before that I told him what my dad told me to tell him, which was not to 'Stock' it across the front. My dad tells me that every time I go to get my haircut and complains about it every time I comeback. I know what he is talking about and Mike the barber did not do it this time. He used to cut the front of my scalp every time but he stopped when I started mentioning it.

Today, Dad is going to an appointment then picking up the new car. We are having cheeseburgers for lunch. Tomorrow, Mom and I are going to Myrtle Beach for the weekend.

Goodbye,

Myron Steed
