A Long Day

Jan 21, 2015 20:08

Hey Journal,

Today was a long day. I woke up at around 2:30 AM this morning. I thought to myself I want to get up early today but not this early! I went to the restroom and dozed in and out of sleep until 5:30 AM. At that time I went to the restroom again and then posted a drawing I drew to Twitter. I thought my appointment was at 10:30 AM this morning. More on that later. I went to Starbucks at around 6:14 AM. I saw a school bus waiting in the Harris Teeter parking lot. I did not wear a jacket. :-( I asked the barista whether she would recommend a hot chocolate or Oprah Chai Latte. She said, "Hot chocolate." So that's what I ordered. I took a seat at the bar but decided I wanted to shop. I walked to the books and magazine section and did not see anything but Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story for kids. I pick it up and it was expensive. I then went to the fragrance section. I picked out 2 car fresheners and headed to checkout. I paid at self-checkout. I had to call the attendant because the register was in Spanish. It turns out 'cash' in Spanish is 'efectivo'. She was just showing me. When I left she said "Adios!" I thought that was nice. I thought at that time that today might be a nice day. I went home and started on the computer after I started watching videos in my room. I was going to play on my PS2 but it was not hooked up. After awhile I decided to work on the Wi-Fi on the computer. I found out the Comcast website. It is www.xfinity.comcast.com. It is nice and loads fast. But because the Wi-Fi is not working I could not get my laptop to connect to the internet. That means that the Blu-Ray is not going to connect either which means no Netflix and no Scandal. Bummer. I listed to MTV. Dad asked me why I was up so early and I said, "I just am." He then said that I was still going to have to work out at 8:30 AM. That upset me but I did not say anything. After I had already gone back to bed he came in my room and told me to start the bills. I said, "Ok," and went downstairs. I got everything together and by that time it was 8:05 or so. I opened each bill and separated them. I then wrote out the company, date due and amount due. Then I typed up that information on my computer and printed it out. Dad asked how much it was and I told him. Then I went downstairs and wrote out the checks and stuffed the envelopes. By that time Mom was up and had cooked breakfast. We all ate and then I got back to the bills. Dad came by and said that he was going to make sure enough money was in the bank. So he left. I then put return labels and stamps and was finished. I went back to bed because at that time I was tired for some reason. At 11:30, Dad was back and Mom woke me up to get dressed for my Adult Disability appointment. I got my clothes together and took a shower. I got dressed in the restroom. Mom tried to hurry me up. I finished getting dressed and did something quick for Dad on the computer. Then we left for the appointment. We went to the place where it was first. We were an hour early so we went to lunch at S&S Cafeteria. I got salad, back chicken, mac and cheese and a soft roll. Mom only got cole slaw and mac and cheese. We both got teas. Mom accidently got unsweet tea. We sat at the table and talked about different things, like the State of the Union Address. She said that she watched about 3/4ths of it. I told her I had been there with Dad before. She liked it. We ate out food and left. We went to the appointment. First we had to park in their weird parking lot. It was difficult for Mom to find a park but we got one. The whole way there Mom was insisting that I not answer the questions correctly to ensure that I get the disability benefit. But that made me very nervous. It sort of scared me. But I figured I could handle it. But needless to say I did not want to talk about that. The place was very nice. Wooden doors and glass windows. I went to the restroom. We made it to the office and I had to sign a document. Then we waited for about 30 minutes. I read US Weekly and Mom read other stuff. We talked small talk. When the doctor was ready he called me back. Mom and I both got up and he said, no just me. So Mom gave me my medicine and I went back. He was nice. We talked about me for a minute. We talked about how I felt and what sort of things get to me. Stuff like that I guess. I showed him my license. But he did not take it. He wrote down my medication when I took it out of the bag. After a little while we did memory exercises. That part I really liked before and so I sort of got excited. I knew that Mom told me to hold back but I could not and I think I got every answer right. I was sort of answering correctly to see if I could get the answers right. After awhile I did not notice. That was the last part of the meeting. So after that he showed me to the door. As we left I told Mom how it went. She was upset at first but I told her that I think I did well but not perfect. She said, "Ok". We then went to Costco to get gas. I pumped the gas and she called Sharnequa. When I was finished and we were leaving Costco she handed the phone to me. Shar did not really want to talk or did not have time. We went to her doctor for her shots. She went back and they started talked behind the wall and I could hear them through the glass. They were being silly and telling jokes. I read the issue of People that I read before. After she had gotten her shots she had to wait 30 minutes. We read the paper and talked about whether or not we ought to get some crabs from the seafood store. We decided against it. I got a cup of water and we left after the waiting time was up. We went straight home. We had the windows cracked and talked about going to the beach. When we got to Mt. Pleasant, we talked about going to either Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. We headed home though. We pulled up to that house and went inside. I noticed the tv was really loud downstairs so I turned it down. Uncle Charlie was listening at the table in the kitchen. We talked for a minute. Then I went to bed. I laid down but almost immediately I picked up my iPad and looked up shells. That lead me to www.follybeachusa.com. Then I searched for salt crystals. I remember I made them before really easily. But they directions for this was very hard and that disappointed me. But then I got inspired to boil some salt water. I went downstairs and started doing just that. But before I really got started I was reaching for a mug and one fell on the counter and broke. I cleaned it up and started back to the salt water. After it was boiling, I then thought, "What and I going to do with this?" I poured some into a mug and then a plastic water bottle. The water bottle started to melt but it held the water. I put both the mug and the water bottle in the freezer. I started to clean up but decided to play with the water. I splashed around and then cleaned up. After I had cleaned up I remembered the salt water in the mug. But just before, Uncle Charlie asked if I was hungry because he had a fish sandwich from McDonald's that I could have. I said, "No thanks," but after a minute I heated it up in the microwave and ate it. I then took the salt water in the mug and gargled with it in the restroom. I had just been eating spinach dip so some tortillas were in my teeth. I finished gargling and went back to bed. I slept and slept until just before dinner. Mom woke me up to take out the garbage. I took it out and got the water bottle she got me and had some ice water. She showed me how to make some dip she made which includes stewed tomatoes, sour cream and Abdodo seasoning. I made it and ate it with some tortilla chips. She told me not to eat too many chips because the chips make it bad for you. Dad then came home. He turned the news on and we watched that in the den while Mom cooked dinner. There was a special about US/Cuba relations and the Cuban economy. Dad sent me on a search for his hairbrush. I went to the Cadillac and the Toyota. It was not in the car. I went to his room and grabbed a different brush. I took it to him and finished watching the news. After awhile, dinner was ready. Mom made smothered chicken tenders with rice and lentil soup. It was pretty good. I drank it with my water. I found a bottle cap in the car and had one in my room. I check www.mycokerewards.com but it was down.and started writing this journal. After dinner I was taking my medicine and found an AM/PM Weekly tablet holder for my medicine. I filled it up. I showed Mom and told her I was going to keep it in my room. She said that would be good because she brings me the smoothies in the mornings.

Sincerly,

Myron Steed
