Well, I got the kids out from in front of the computer long enough to go over to
Largo Central Park to ride
the train. The lines were as long as I've ever recalled seeing them. We had a sort of fun mishap - the car we were riding on derailed, and I got to help the conductor haul the car off the uncooperative truck, rerail it, and reset the car on the the truck. (* Hums chorus of "I've Been Working on The Railroad (all the live long day)" *)
After gyros and some kicking back,
suemac and I carted the kids (and
suemac's kid brother) off to see
Wall*E. Maavelous, just simply maaaaaavelous. Wonderful flick. Just plain terrific. And yes,
kethryvis, mondo cute.
Amanda crashed pretty readily after getting some more computer time; long day for her. Laura was harder to put down, after we discovered the Potter flick marathon on ABC Family. We finally chased her off toward bed when
Prisoner of Azkeban was mostly over, by virtue of telling her to turn off the TV so Uncle Craig could go home. :-)
Highlight of the weekend on-air - KH9/WA2YUN Colin, out on Wake Island, on 20 meters, at 0100 local! He was hammering in so hard he was overloading the front end on my receiver! That's practically the opposite side of the globe from here. It was funny, 'cause I couldn't quite connect with KA7SWP in Pinetop, AZ, and was sort of iffy with W1GUD Warren right across the Bay in Tampa! I don't get much sleep sometimes, but I sure do love this hobby!
Morning will bring a quick
SouthCARS checkin, and a quick teardown and packup of the radio gear. We'll stuff the clothes back in the suitcases, load up the car, and head out for breakfast, most likely either at
The Skinny Rooster or at
The Frog Pond. Either place, we can look forward to Conehead-esque Mass Quantities™ at a decent price. Yummie. Then it's back home to Hoggetowne to get the kids ready for 4H camp. Amanda's a counselor this year.
A week with no kids! Feel the W00tness of it all!
