You know, a common thread in everyone's reaction posts, except those few brave souls who have professed to love it start to finish, is the overwhelming JOY at having Show back. Finally, I am looking forward to it again.

Really? Whew. I was always worried I was the minority. It always felt like left and right, I was told last two seasons "were the best thing ever" and I tried to be a Cas-fan (he has his moments), I tried to enjoy SuperEmo!Dean but I just couldn't. I haven't read much fic set post third season. Tried. Couldn't. Failed.
Hey, maybe we are in the minority, who knows? I don't think so, though. I think that SPN is like any fandom: it has people in it who think that if you don't act 100% enthusiastic all the time, you're not a "real fan". Well, no, that isn't how it works. Hive mind and fake joy never really do anyone any good. ;)
I haven't written or read fic (much) for the last two years either. I didn't love Castiel, which seems for many diehards the same thing as saying I hated him. I dunno, the dynamic changed and I was bored with the angel war storyline. I wanted Sam and Dean with a side of Castiel and Bobby and it seemed a lot more like Castiel and Dean with a side of Sam and Bobby every once in a while.
But, I guess my bi-brother tendencies do lean a smidge toward Sam's story, which has almost always been at the root more interesting than Dean's. Maybe that's the real reason I've felt some discontent.

But now you're saying I'm not alone?
