After getting caught up with HIMYM now, while I'm not as annoyed with Ted as I was in the beginning, he's still not a favorite by a very long shot. I'm still sort of annoyed, just to a lesser extent. It probably doesn't help that I've known Teds in my life.

The Teds of the world make everything into a Big Frickin Deal. There were several times when something well-intentioned by one of his friends would go sideways, and Ted, naturally, would throw a hissy fit. I can never quite figure out why Marshall and Barney are always fighting to be his "best friend." Or why women stay with him. He's whiny, needy, manipulative and selfish as hell. It's always about his feelings, ideas and emotions, and he's got this inflated sense of self worth. Like when he was stunned that Barney flew out to San Francisco to get Lily back for Marshall. It never even occurred to him to try something like that, and instead he just badmouthed Lily as his way to "help" Marshall, because Ted was too personally wounded, or some such shit.

I. DO. NOT. LIKE. TED.

It does help to laugh at him. I'm pretty sure I laughed out loud when Robin actually called him a douche. MWAH.

But the other characters save the show for me. Forget "how I met your mother" (which has been a 4-year-long let's-drag-this-out-for-as-long-as-we-can boring story), the real story is "how Barney and Robin met." Not as catchy, but oh well.

Barn-man and Robin.

Robin was slowly becoming my favorite, but when she was sleep eating ribs on the kitchen floor, she got the title. She's a gun-toting Canadian and is fairly awesome. (We'll call the year she went out with Ted a minor lack in judgment.)

Barney is...Barney. Here he's telling Ted his Gremlins/Dating theory. (HEH.)

A Barney in love with Robin is hysterical because he acts so unlike Barney. (Like punching a guy.)

But still acts very much like Barney. (Like hiding after he punched.)

Lily is the number one Barney/Robin OTP shipper. XD

Seriously. It's hysterical!

She even locks them in a room when they refuse to define their relationship. I've felt like doing that to characters before. XD Anyway, Puppet Master Lily is AWESOME.

Marshall eventually smokes them out with use of bacon. Every show should make better use of bacon.

A Robin and Barney high-five after agreeing to lie about the terms "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" with each other, to get bacon.

Ted's cynical about the whole "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" thing, but Lily knows better.

Even if Robin and Barney don't.

Oh, and in this last episode there was another plot about Ted's first day of teaching, but honestly I fast forwarded much of that. Ted + embarrassment humor = CRINGING.
