Day 1 at EWU

Sep 16, 2006 09:11

Ok here's the obligatory first day at the college lj post.

I got here at about 8:30 in the morning, my morning stuff took less time that I expected, and I had moved everything into my dorm room by 9. We were supposed to start loading the dorm rooms at 9. I'm glad I got it done, because it meant that I didn't have to struggle with the EVERYONE bringing crap into their dorms. I finished just in time to give the first person who started at the right time my cart. Good times. The girl who checked out the cart to me, Claire, is a junior here, and she is notable for a few reasons. First she was really really nice. Secondly, she is Jessica Vicani's roommate and a dwarf. Seems pretty awesome.

After that I ran, picked up my Eagle card and my books, before driving home to get some CAT 5 cables to hook up my computer to the internet and campus network. I really need to get Norton Antivirus for my computer. Grar. Anyways, I ran home got the cables, came back (bringing Michal Shanda with me). Later we talked about evolution vs biblical literalism, and this is my chief complaint about her way of thought. She says she tries to be open minded, but whenever we talked about evolution rather than the bible side of things, she still viewed it from a biblical literalist viewpoint. Totally NOT Open Minded.

Where was I? Oh yes. We came back to Cheney, and I gave her a tour of the campus and picked up my parking permit. My Free! parking permit. And we also ran into the previously mentioned Jessica Vicani (she was on the LC drill team. I'm not sure if I'm getting her name right). So basically, yadda yadda, blahblahblah, I ended up hanging out with Deb and Kayla (two girls from central washington area) who Michal met on Myspace, then later with Jessica for dinner and with Lindsay Vercruyssen, who was giving her dorm's frosh a tour of cheney thingy. And she invited me along because free food was included. We got to catch up, and she complained about Delaney Dittman, who is on the soccer team she is coaching for. I'm not going to repeat how she described Delaney as a "toad" as a reason for not having her play all that much. But yah. I ended up seeing eye to eye with her on Delaney based on my experience with D.

Late that night, I went and met Deb's boyfriend and hung out with Deb and bf and Kayla and their friend Katie who I hadn't mentioned before.

So that was day one. Oh and I got a job. As a internet connection support dude.
