Stepping out onto her balcony, Isabella breathed in a lungful of the clean, crisp morning air and rested her elbows on the smooth, deep mahogany wood railing.
She admired the calming waves of the ocean rolling peacefully onto the shore, wiping away any marks and blemishes on the soft sand, as if erasing painful memories and starting anew.
‘If only Junsu could be like the sand…’
Turning back into her bedroom, Isabella padded over to her messy unmade bed and flopped dramatically onto it.
“What should I do today? Junsu’s gonna be rehearsing the whole day and I don’t want to be stuck inside the house like a timid housewife…”
She checked her iPhone and was disappointed to find no new messages. Why hadn’t that cute guy called or texted yet? Was he not interested in her? Did he lose her number?
Bolting straight up, Isabella furiously typed on her keypad, sending texts to her 2 best friends: Alexis and Emerald.
“hay darlings. I’m back! shopping+slumber party at my house=win. who’s in?”
In less than 2 minutes, both had replied;
“OMG U’R BAK? YAY!!! ;DDD i’ll start gettin ready now… LUVS <3<3<3”
Isabella smiled at Emerald’s reply. That girl would put down anything just for Isabella.
“SHOPPIN W/ MY FAV GIRLIES? HELL 2 DA YEAH! jus bought a new bikini… can’t w8 2 try it out in u’r pool ;P”
Alexis was the flirt in their group, but Isabella knew that shy and sweet girl no one else sees, hidden away on the inside.
Grinning, Isabella grabbed her car keys, her oversized Dolce&Gabbana shades, her Louis Vuitton handbag, and headed downstairs.
~*~*~*~*~
Stopping in front of Emerald’s grand mansion, Isabella honked a few times and was glad to see her friend bustling out of the door at high speed, charging towards Isabella’s baby blue Beetle. Her dark brown bob was straightened and shining in the sunlight as it swished from side to side. She was wearing a simple black halter jumpsuit with a thin, metallic belt wrapped around her hips, emphasizing her long, slender legs. Her arms had bangles of different sorts jingling together and feet were adorned with jewel-studded strap-sandals.
“I call shotgun!” Emerald shouted through the open window, signaling for Isabella to pop the trunk for her overnight baggage.
“You’ve changed so much I hardly even recognize you! I see London treated you well. Must be the cute boys…” Emerald mused, marveling at Isabella’s new hair and complexion while nestling herself comfortably in the passenger seat.
“You don’t look to bad yourself,” winked Isabella.
“We have so much to catch up on it’s not even funny,” pouted Emerald as they pulled into Alexis’ driveway.
Once they arrived at the mall, they walked arm in arm, strutting their stuff as if they were on the runway, attracting the curious attention of passerbys.
“Just like old times. I miss hanging out like this, chillin’ with my BFF’s and making the boys drool on their own feet,” Alexis sighed happily, holding up a top and bringing it towards herself.
“You girls don’t know how miserable I was in London without you ladies besi-” Isabella stopped mid-sentence.
There’s the guy again! And how irresistibly scrumptious he looked wearing that red and black plaid button down with his sleeves rolled up his arms. He had on dark, ripped jeans and white converses. His hair was deliberately tousled and had on a pair of thick-rimmed black square glasses.
Isabella felt her heart speed up and her breath come out in short pants as she remembered the time when she felt his solid pecs. Her cheeks were suddenly tinged with a bright magenta color and she mentally slapped herself to react in such as way. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t stop herself from falling into stupid cupid’s love trap.
Imagining herself leaning against him, he whispered lovingly “my belle” as his strong arms circled around her waist, his eyes gazing adoringly at her, and slowly bringing his lips down onto hers…
“KYAAAA~” Isabella squealed, earning weird glances from her friends. She brought her hands up to her burning face.
“Honey, we know this store has cute clothes but there’s no need to freak out about it. Just take it and try it on!” Emerald said amused, putting her arm around Isabella’s shoulders.
“No! Don’t make it obvious but you see that guy in the plaid and glasses? I think he’s hot. I want him.” Isabella hinted, urgently shifting her eyes towards Changmin’s direction.
“Jeez. Possessive much?” Emerald noticed Changmin and whistled appreciatively. “Daaang. He is fine. Woah, check out those muscles. Ooooo, I wouldn’t mind him being my brother-in-law,” Emerald winked. Both girls giggled like drunken hyenas.
“Okay, I officially feel left out,” Alexis declared as she admired herself in the full-length mirrors. She was the epitome of a typical Asian as she had long, silky black hair. Her strapless tank was a soft beige color, bringing out her fair, creamy skin. Her denim short shorts and white pumps elongated her short legs, as she has always been bitter about not being as tall and graceful as her other friends.
“Lexi, check out Belle’s newest boy toy,” Emerald teased, earning a smack from Isabella.
“He is not by boy toy! I feel that there’s something more to this guy than just looks…”
Alexis stopped checking herself out and turned to Changmin’s direction.
No way.
“That’s my cousin! How did you know about him?” Alexis asked Isabella.
“Shut up! He’s your cousin? Why didn’t introduce us to him before?!” Isabella questioned, shaking Alexis on the shoulders hysterically.
“Well, he had a steady girlfriend until just last year and I didn’t think he would want to start dating again so soon. You know, being a rebound sucks big time,” Alexis explained, shrinking back into the shelves, slightly afraid of Isabella’s murderous stare.
“That doesn’t mean he didn’t need a good girl friend. Ugh, I can’t believe you. I’m not going to forgive you until you convince him to call me!” Isabella scrunched her eyebrows disappointedly, putting her hands on her hips.
“Why don’t you just call him yourself?”
“Because I’m the girl and I don’t want to seem desperate!”
“Knock knock! Anyone there? This is the 21st Century, guys like initiative girls!”
“But I was the one who gave the number so how am I supposed to call him?”
“I could just give you his number.”
“But then I’d seem like a creepy stalker!”
“…”
“Hah! Obey my commands or prepare to meet your DOOOOM! Ohohohoooo,” Isabella tilted her head up, smelling the sweet scent victory.
“Fine.” Alexis huffed, making her way to Changmin.
“WHAT? I didn’t tell her to make him talk to me NOW! What would he think of me? A crazy obsessive stalker? I would’ve rather just taken his number! What do I do?!” Isabella looked toward Emerald wide-eyed.
“Hmmm, I would say turn that ugly scowl into a smile and charm him until he begs for you to be his.”
“I don’t want to see her.” Changmin replied coldly.
“Why not?”
“She’s a liar.”
“What? How would you know?”
“I saw her being all intimate and sickeningly sweet with her boyfriend with my own eyes! You want any more evidence?”
"But she doesn't have a boyfriend. I would know because I'm her best friend!"
"Doesn't seem like it to me."
"What do you mean by that?"
"What do you think?"

“I don’t want to seem rude or anything, but why is Junsu the female lead?”
Yunho put down his script and closed his eyes, rubbing the nook of his nose and exhaled roughly.
“Tell everyone to gather up.”
People stopped what they were doing and looked expectantly at Yunho.
“I have been asked several times a certain question that I wish to get over with. Junsu was chosen as the female lead by Jaejoong and me under very difficult conditions. Both Yoochun and Junsu are seniors this year and were neck-to-neck in terms of singing capabilities. The girls that auditioned for the female role were either not good enough or the oldest were only juniors. Jaejoong and I believe that gender should not be discriminated against when picking for parts because really, does that matter? What’s more important is the message and feelings transmitted to the audience through the songs so it could be a musical full of ladies acting as men for all I care. Another thing is that Junsu was chosen as the female because his unique voice had a more feminine touch to it, as opposed to Yoochun’s deep baritone. I hope you guys feel the same way as Jaejoong and I do and hope you won’t hold it against Junsu if he does something wrong.”
Some people nodded, some were void of emotions, and others were downright irritated.
“But what about the kiss scene at the end?”
“We’ll make use of the angles so the audience won’t be able to see that they’re not actually kissing.”
Yunho looked around. “If there aren’t any more questions then continue with what you were doing. We will converge again at 6.”
Yoochun looked at Junsu but couldn’t read his expression.
It was either a cross between annoyance and displeasure or shame and humiliation.
Or maybe everything all mixed together.
Yoochun shook his head exasperatedly, put off that people would question and challenge Yunho and Jaejoong’s decision.
“Hey, don’t worry about the others. Let’s just do what we came here to do and make them regret they ever thought about doubting your part.” Yoochun convinced Junsu, tentatively patting his back.
“I knew this would happen the moment I got the part. I should’ve just quit. It’s not worth it. Why do I put up with people’s judgment and ridicule when I could be perfectly normal and not deal with them.”
“But wouldn’t you rather have done something and regretted it than not doing something and regretting you didn’t do it? I always believed that there’s always a reason as to why things are the way they are, as cheesy as this may be, and I’m in no position to question the intent of that particular situation. I say stick through with this because you could be amazed at the outcome.”
Junsu looked at Yoochun and added, “but what if it comes out all wrong?”
Yoochun mulled over that for a moment, before answering, “at least you’ve gone through something like this before so in the future, if similar situations present themselves, you would be wise in not choosing to take part in it.”
Junsu laughed bitterly. “See, that’s exactly the reason why I don’t socialize with people. It went wrong before and I don’t want to go through that again.”
Yoochun was stumped. He had just double-crossed himself. ‘Idiot, way to convince him. You just pushed him farther away.’
“But… I need you.”
