A woman and her child walked happily, hands swinging in perfect harmony, after a day spent just being: time together.
Mum smiled down at her little one and thanked whatever deity that mattered for all she had been given.
Over the horizon wandered a beautiful blonde, she waved in greeting; the child ran, leaving a warm hand suddenly cold.
“Mama, you’re here, we missed you so much. We’ve been playing in the sand, come look…”
His young voice trailed off as he dragged his Mama away to see, leaving behind his enthralled wonder.
How the hell could this be wrong?
