Since my last post, I've given birth. Caleb's almost 3 weeks old now. It's amazing how quickly time goes by.

As for the "Mommy Wars", this is a cyclical trend in pop culture pontification. It tends to wander back and forth between "the kids need more 'parental' (read: mommy) time" and "let's look at the phenomenon of over-bearing, always-with-their-kids mothers". The only unifying theme is "Ack! Mothers are doing something wrong! Convene the (> 70% male) panel of experts!".
In recent years, I think that the cycle between these two positions has sped up, so that you now have a collision of the two contradictory positions. (But that's ok, since it's still women doing the wrong thing, which is always good to hold talk shows about)
The recent Koufax award winner for "Most Deserving of Wider Recognition" Echidne of the Snakes has had many words on the "Mommy wars" - here's one post I happened to remember particularly.
By the way, thinking of recent babies, had you heard that Brendon Patrick Johnson was born to Kate and Chris Johnson on Feb. 14th?
