More About My Old Home
I met my old neighbour today, from my old home in Rainford Avenue, also on the estate, it's yards from the site of the medieval manor house. I'm told the original Lords of Withington lived there, the house dated back to 1233 at least. But I don't know when the apparitions date from. I know the local kids would dare the other kids to sneak in my neighbour's garden to see the white figure at the window.I know the house was noisy,we would all hear footsteps bumping up and down and overhead. Doors would be rapped on and flung open, the ghost would be heard creaking my sister's bed when she was away, it sounded like someone heavy was climbing in it. Once my brother went to bed, and he came running down the stairs in terror some ten minutes later, saying something had sat on him, and said,
" There, there Delta ! "
He also saw white lights, shooting across the room like orbs, my mother had a cross pulled off her neck and then she saw a huge mass pulsating overhead,after lots of incidents like this we had the house exorcised. In the end the house subsided and we had to be rehoused, the neighbours tell us the screams and banging carried on for a week afterwards always on the stroke of eight, and then we moved here ....
