Revolutionary Road

I just saw Revolutionary Road with Denise and Frances. Whoa. Super intense. Holy Moses. I'm not even sure what really happened in the movie...all i know is that I am emotionally spent. This doesn't really give anything away, but....there was yelling and screaming and crying and lots of silence...but I'm not sure what actually went on in that ( Read more... )

Did you cry? I know I don't like to cry at movies in front of Ross. Also, have you seen Slumdog Millionaire? Loved it.

I don't often cry at movies in the theatre. I just feel weird crying in public, even over a movie. however, I cry at home watching movies all of the time.

That said, I'm not sure if this movie would have made me cry anyway. It was intense, but it didn't make me sad in any sort of personal way. I felt for the characters, but not really in a way that related to me directly. Actually, to be honest, I think maybe I was just so shocked and wide-eyed during the movie that I didn't get to the point where I related to the characters.

oh, and I haven't seen Slumdog Millionaire, but I really do want to. I've heard great things about it. Greg wants to see that, too so I'll go with him.

Greg doesn't like depressing movies. the only exception to that is if it's historical in some way, but even still: not a fan. He goes to movies to either escape (action movies) or laugh (comedies). He'll watch any romantic comedy, but something like this? He'd watch it, but he wouldn't choose it.

Also, he's been working 10-13 hour days plus weekends over the past few weeks. I think a movie like this right after work might have throw him over the edge. Heck, it almost threw ME over the edge, and I had just taken the dog for a long walk!

Ahh. I usually choose my movies for the same reasons, escape, entertainment. But I'm often surprised by the unexpected ones that stick with me, not because of the bad stuff (which I have to be really careful to avoid, too sensitive) but because of something deeper than escape or entertainment I can't quite give voice too. I usually can't remember the names of them either. :D
