quack quack! (translation: "happy birthday, I'm delicious")

Greg wasn't able to go out for dinner, since he's studying for the bar (six days until it's over...but who's counting :P). So, I made him a fancy dinner at home:

I made Greg a fancy dinner for his birthday.

Pan-roasted duck breast with balsamic fig reduction, potato puree with duck fat, sauteed zucchini with hickory smoked sea salt.
I also made an heirloom tomato salad with bocconcini pearls, drizzled with cream of balsamic, and olive oil.




I was reeeeeally happy with how it turned out. The duck was nice and moist, the skin was sufficiently rendered and crispy, and it was just the perfect level of doneness. It was pretty easy, too. I'm totally making this again!
