Some on my f'list may have seen this already but I'm making it public so I can get more criticism etc
Based on episode 7 of series 2 of the BBC series Robin Hood.
N.B. This is an unusual ship, but don't assume I don't ship Will/Djaq, I just wanted to write something interesting.
Disclaimer: I do not own Robin Hood, the BBC does.
Djaq shivered and pulled her cloak tighter around her. She was sat in the rain, against an oak tree in the forest, guarding the camp while waiting for the others to come back after a drop off. She remembered the events previously that day.
They had gone into Nottingham Town, as Marian had given Robin the news that Allan was telling the Sherriff all the outlaw's secrets, so they needed to deal with that particular situation as well as helping a man get his fiancee back from an evil Canon. They had dressed in uniforms "borrowed" from the guards so they could slip into the Castle unnoticed.
Robin stopped them to give his orders. He told them to go to the tower and get the girl, Beatrice, out. "And you?", asked Much.
Robin said grimly, "I'm gonna find Allan". This news hit Djaq like a thunderbolt - he was going to face Allan, alone?
"Robin". He turned to face her. "Don't-"
"Djaq", he put his hand on her head to silence her. "I know you liked him. But he has to be stopped".
Djaq's inner turmoil and shock at his words left her speechless - the words he thought spoke the truth, when in reality her feelings were so different.
She had always hoped that he might know, even just a small part of him, but it was clear from his words that he did not know. The truth was, that though everybody believed she still had feelings for Allan, for a while now she had been keeping other feelings underwraps.
Sure she had liked Allan a bit, but she had stronger feelings, feelings which could never be spoken, that she had had to keep hidden. Robin had mistaken her concern as being for Allan, but the truth was she was anxious for him, Robin. She was afraid he would get hurt in a one-on-one against Allan, who she knew was a brilliant fighter. She knew she couldn't speak her love for him aloud, he was with Marian, and she wasn't the kind to split up a happy relationship. What's more, Robin would be too nice about it and pity her, which she wouldn't be able to bear, so she had no choice to bottle it up and hope it went away.
Djaq bottled up her feelings and followed the others to get the girl, not letting a single emotion out.
A sudden shouting shook Djaq from her reverie. The others were back. She stood up wearily and fixed her mask on her face before joining the others in their chatter. They would never know.
