my schedule next year
As of Friday, I'm officially teaching all 8th grade American History next year. This is amazing. This year, I teach two different subjects, one of which is American History. That means, I'll just be doing all the same things next year, only for ONE of the classes. Everything is already prepared! I just have to make the copies and modify as needed as the year goes on!
All year long, I was thinking ahead. I wrote down what I did almost every week (I think I've missed about 5 when things were really hectic, but I'll be able to fill in the blanks)so that I'd know exactly how my year went for next year.
The only difference next year is that I'll have 3 honors classes and 3 "at-level" classes. That means low-level. This year, I teach 3 honors classes. So, I will need to modify things slightly for the at-level classes, but it won't be that big of a deal. They will definitely present discipline challenges though if my science class this year was any indication.
But at least I get to teach one subject that I love! I don't like teaching science at all. It's been such a struggle.
Maybe I won't be at school til late at night a few times a week....maybe I'll have more "me" time. Maybe I won't depend on the weekends for cutting loose so much. Maybe I'll have time to concentrate on my grad classes (assuming all goes well this summer in my first two).
