You are definitely not alone in thinking a clock is a deeply romantic gesture. If I were Dorcas, I wouldn't care how show-offy James was being about his wealth -- that's some major symbolism! Yet she couldn't even have the decency to be his escort at the ceremony.

Anyway, thank you SO MUCH for your lovely comments! I was so hoping even though James was puffing on his cigar (I do think he's so sexy when he's haughtily standing in the doorway of the hotel smoking) that Lark Rise boy would come through. I was a little nervous about having one continuous conversation to deal with his whole romantic past, so I'm very relieved you felt it worked and felt natural for James. I had a confessional in mind when I was writing this -- I really think James just needs to get everything out there in the open, to admit the truth to himself, before he can move on. (And it was a bit fun to torture him with laying all his cards on the table, knowing he might risk this new love interest by her knowing what a cad he is, lol.)

Didn't the last episode just leave you wanting to know what on earth James did with the hotel while he was riding off into the sunset? I couldn't resist throwing Thomas and Margaret into that situation after their wedding. (Of course James let them use the honeymoon suite...) Very pleased you like the little nods to Lark Rise life. I'm thinking this is all for when the writers discover my fanfic and hire me to write the Christmas special for series three!

Hopefully this sinus infection will go away so I can deal more with James' honesty...or not... But thank you, very much, for reading and taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review. It means a great deal from you!
