I can't wait for tomorrow!!!!! Sure, it starts my six day in a row ordeal at the Evil Empire, but I really only have 3 long shifts in the next six days and plus tomorrow is INDEPENDENCE DAY. As in, even though we love the Brits now and we borrow EVERYTHING from them, a little over 200 years ago we kicked their sorry asses and created what became one of the greatest countries in the ENTIRE world. Sure, nowadays it's not so hot, but in the beginning we were one badass country, that's for sure! I think Independence Day is a great day because it reminds us of everything that this country was built upon, even if we have strayed from the path of good intentions since then. Plus, there's fireworks!!!!
Not too much has gone down these last couple of days. On Wednesday night I actually got very sick (fever induced Snape hallucinations and all! Seriously, it was weird), so Thursday I just took it easy before I had to go into work at 5. I bundled up in a blanket on the couch for a good long time. Once I got all nice and washed, I did a little laundry and then just read for a while. I actually ended up watching "Muppets from Space" while I had my lunch!!!! It was hilarious!!!! I had never seen it before, but I'll probably watch it again before On Demand changes its free movie roster at the end of the month. Work was....BAD. Just. BAD. I don't think I've ever filled so many controlled substances in a single evening!!!! It was a short shift, but it felt like NINE HOURS. I was very, very glad to come home.
Naturally, I enjoyed my day off after that! Dad came home early, and Mom only worked half a day, so I actually got to spend an ENTIRE day in their presence. This is sadly a rare thing, because while normal people have weekends, I do not. I usually have my days off during the week, so I don't really see my family. I think I need a damn goldfish or something. Anyway, Mom and I went grocery shopping to get some stuff for tomorrow, and then we went to the cemetery to take care of the flowers we all planted there. I must admit, I was upset when I saw the dinky little PLAQUE that was put on my grandfather's. My Uncle Joe has a BEAUTIFUL stone with his picture on it while Pai only gets this tiny little slab of rock flat in the ground?! I was more than a little miffed. Dad says when my grandmother eventually passes we'll get them both nice stones. I'd rather not wait until then, as it will probably be many years. My grandma is mostly healthy (minus the diabetes and stomach ulcer from the stress of the last...half a century) and is only 70, so maybe we'll fix the stone before that. One can hope. After that, we went with Mai and Bubba to take Peter and Isaiah home. It's always good to see the kids. :) Now I must go relax and head to bed, because I have to get up in the morning for Evil Empire Day One.
