My glasses came in today. While I like them, I also think they make me look like a female Dumbledore. Thankfully, they're not for all the time use. I'll only have to be old sometimes. ;) I am also sort of hoping that they will detract some from my status as bobolicious, but as they're not for work that will probably be touch and go.
Britt and I both went to Wal-Mart when I went to pick them up, so we did a little shopping. I got a couple of things for father's day, as well as a bathing suit for myself. I finally managed to find a decent tankini. It's red, black, and white floral patterned, and the top ties behind the neck while the bottom is a skirt. It is definitely cute and definitely covers some things up that may be less than attractive!!! We didn't have any meat in the fridge either, so I had to pick up a couple of things from the grocery section. I got some chicken breast and legs, and a couple of steaks. I managed to find some fresh sour dough bread as well, which turned out to be quite delicious! To date, I have never chosen incorrectly when shopping for bread. I think this is because I am seriously Portuguese. After that, Britt and I went to Friendly's on 44 for lunch, which was quite nice.
Bubba also had knee surgery today. He's going for another knee replacement in the fall, but for this knee they had to remove four screws and a hinge before they could do the procedure. He was in Vietnam, you see, and his leg was almost blown off when a bomb exploded right next to him. He's had those hinges in for a very long time, and the screws were AT LEAST 4 inches long. It's no wonder the poor man could hardly walk for pain!!! I don't know how he could even move with those horrible screws! He's doing fine though, and the surgery was totally fine. He's home and resting. He'll be on crutches for a few days, and then he'll get his stitches out on Friday. Mom, Dad and I went down to the house to visit him, and then Mom, Mai and I went to Kohl's to get birthday gifts for Anthony, who will be 11 this Thursday. I can't believe how big he's gotten, even in this past year!!! We ended up getting some nice Tony Hawk stuff for him, since he loves to skateboard, and we got a few little things for the other kids too. Jeffrey, Noah, and the twins got some shirts, and I got Tobes and MJ a little outfit each. Tobes is going to get Safari overalls with a giraffe on them and MJ is going to get a pink shirt with little khaki shorts. I am thrilled to pieces, seriously! It's so much fun shopping in the kids section!!!
