Is Karaoke worth the hassle?

Okay, so what's going on? My Wednesday night Prims class I teach (7 year old girls) has been a lot of fun. We just finished a unit on reading, and it was a lot of fun. One of the moms has started contributing snacks to the class every week...I love Sue!!!

With Scott's new work schedule, I've been going to bed earlier, which means I've been getting up earlier at, say, 8:00am. Unfortunately, he's not exactly bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at that time of day, so I end up getting grumbled at. So in order to let him sleep, and therefore save my marriage, I've been hanging out in the church office. It's alright. We have a good time, I suppose. And on the happy side of Scott's new job, he got his first paycheck last night (technically this morning)...for a week and a day, he has an entire two-week WalMart paycheck...WOOHOO!!!! And the overtime hasn't even started yet!

So, I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that going to dive bars is pointless. I mean, the only reason to go is for the karaoke. Of course karaoke is open to EVERYONE...including bad singers and people who SCREAM into the microphone. And, honestly, the primary reason I go is not for the karaoke, but to see my friends. Unfortunately, all you can do at these places is SEE your friends, as bars are very loud places. So everyone IN the bar has to compensate by screaming at the person next to them to be heard. When you have a building full of screaming people, it's near impossible to have a conversation that lasts more than three sentences. So I've bailed on karaoke the last two weeks. I'll probably go back SOMETIME, as I love karaoke, but it's really not worth the hassle and the headache and the lack of oxygen.

I'd much rather sit at home and have a friend come over for Scrabble. I love Scrabble.
