i've read a few people say that DH read like a fanfic.
i even made the comment at how much fic writers had gotten right.
so i meant it as a compliment to the talented fic writers who called things correctly and did a fair go at jkr's style. NOT as a snide criticism of the book.
her writing isn't 'high art'. but i don't think it's ever claimed to be. i think it IS very satisfying, accessible great story telling. she's made people and a world we love.
i adore her for it.
ps. while i'm outing myself as a sap - i have a sentimental kind of affection for the epilogue.
yeah - the book would have been fine without it. yeah the style was a bit more 'book1' but you know what? that's why i like it. because she has been heading there all this time. and for the sake of her journey in all of this as much as ours i am perfectly happy to give her that.
it would have been more 'slick' to re write something totally new and encorporating different things. but i like the fact that, apart from some tweaking, she's given us the original.
