We're the bad guys now.

So yeah, the folks over at wikileaks now have footage that appears to show American soldiers committing war crimes back in Iraq in 2007. To sum it up, Apache pilot & gunner...

* Shoot a gathering of about eight people, two of which are from the Reuters news service while complaining that someone's got a non-existent RPG.
* Wait for a van full of noncombatants to drive into the area, then get permission to gun the van down along with the people inside.
* Laugh at the fact that a Bradley vehicle runs over one of the corpses.
* Blames a couple of badly-wounded kids for being stupid enough to be in their line of fire.

And this comes very closely after the news that US Special Forces in Afghanistan shot and killed a few Afghan women during a botched raid, then dug the bullets out of their bodies and doused the wounds with alcohol. A short time after this horrible act, US forces just happened to stumble upon the site of an Afghan honor killing.

I look forward to the inevitable news coverage of this most recent tragedy and finding the ones responsible for the leaking of highly classified US military information to "the enemy," whoever they may be. As for the shooter or shooters? I'm sure they'll get a slap on the wrist if we're lucky, though I wouldn't count on it. After all, this thing happened two years ago/tensions on the battlefield are high/we are at WAR, can't we just learn to forgive our own war criminals for slaughtering unarmed civilians/justifying war crimes?

LOOK! A TIGER!
