Decisions...decisions

Well, as some of you know, I got the job.  There is a huge HOWEVER in this little situation.

1. The job I landed pays well and includes benefits but no vacation, holiday or sick time.
2. It is an 'indefinite contract' position with the potential for becoming permanent.
3. I have no clue how long the contract will last exactly and the thing bothering me is the no vacation and the fact that it is not salaried.

I got home from the interview and received an email about another Tech Writing job, the one I really wanted, at a different company.

I have done the orientation, faxed the approvals for background tests, etc to the first place and am meant to start tomorrow afternoon, for a couple of hours.  The issue though is that they are making it an act of freaking Congress to get things rolling. (The recruiter who I will 'technically' be working for, not the company).  Apparently, I have to fax in my contract, tax info and then get one of these documents notarized because they are not in my state.

::sigh::

The OTHER job, would require less tedious work.  I know, I know, lazy of me, though that's not the real issue.  The issue is that when I spoke to the HR lady this morning, she told me the salary range then said 'is that okay?'  This makes me think there's a potential for them to pay more.  It seems advanced degrees are favored with their company.

I'm going to the interview tomorrow morning and just listening.  If they offer me more than the first job, I'll take it.  If not, I'll be a contract Tech Writer for a good company with a bunch of nice people.

I really, hate, hate, HATE this whole ordeal.  This is what annoyed me most about losing my job...the knowing that I'd have to start all over again.  It is beyond frustrating.  BEYOND.

On the flip side of all of this:  I really have no business complaining.  I mean, this is NOT a bad problem to have, right?

Anyway, just thought I'd give those of you who weren't aware of my situation the heads up.  Oh and Dawn, if you're reading this, give me your contact info.  There ARE tech writing jobs out there for you.  I'll hook you up.

Smooch,
Tee
