How did immigration become a major issue? I thought a few years ago during the "Latin explosion "we loved Spanish culture? now we can't stand it? for years we celebrated Cinco de Mayo now people want to boycott it? what happened? For anyone who thought that there were not illegal immigrant in the country 10-20 or even 30 years ago, you are kidding yourself. I mean this country was founded on illegal immigrants.
HOWEVER.
If this is about the rights of illegal immigrants, this issue is simple. You are not citizens nor are you legal. It is like going into your neighbors house uninvited and going into their kitchen. It is understandable for them to be upset and want to kick you out, not that you are harming anything. It is just that you are not welcomed. knock on the door and wait for an answer before coming in. It is polite.
In short.
This issue is being handled poorly by everyone involved. The way thing are happened right now promotes racism and violence. The way you fix the immigration problem of today is simple fix the minimum wage problem, fix the health care problem, and punish those who hire people who do not have proper papers.
~a side note: The national anthem is sung in the language that it was originally written in. You are not going to sing the Chinese national anthem in French unless it was originally written in French. Canada however if they want to sing it in however many languages they want. This however is not an insult to the American culture, it was just a dumb idea. If America really feels insulted make American English the official language (I mean it is unofficially anyway). Then we can be like every other country and list an official language and list secondary languages. We could even govern the language like French and German.
