“It’s just me boys,” a voice says from the upstairs balcony.
The four of them look straight up, all of them admiring a beautiful vision of a girl. Each step she takes seems predetermined, meditated, calculated. She floats like an apparition slowly down the stairs. To say her hair is jet black would be the same as calling the sun brilliant. Her hand touches the railing to her left as she reaches the bottom of the stairs. The skin on said hand is porcelain-white, looking soft as a cloud. Her dark brown eyes radiate beautifully as she stares back inquisitively at the four standing before her.
“Ricky!” she says rushing to hug him with a smile wider than the Nile.
She takes a step back and looks at Martirio square in the eyes.
“And who may this young man be?”
“This guy right here?” Ricky says. “This boy is Mar-ti-ri-oh”
Martirio bows his head like a servant before his master, keeping his eyes glued to the floor. The girl steps forward inspecting Martirio from head to toe.
“I did say you’re name right, didn’t I?” Ricky says.
Martirio simply nods in reply.
“This guy saved our lives. Well, at least my life,” Ricky says, looking over at Martirio.
The girl takes Martirio’s hand saying, “Well, Martirio, my name is Mary. And I am eternally grateful that you saved my boys’ lives.”
He continues to say nothing, for he is completely robbed of speech, his mind goes blank at the sight of her beauty. She’s like nothing he’s ever seen before, her beautiful skin, and her bright eyes, they steal his tongue. He dares not say a word for fear of sounding like a fool.
“He doesn’t seem to say much,” Bones says, cutting in.
“That’s alright,” Ricky says. “I’m sure Vegas and yourself will more than make up for his lack of speech.”
“Ah, fuck you. You pillow-biting ninny,” Vegas says.
“Excuse me?” Ricky says. “If I recall anybody in this room being a pussy it’s you.”
Vegas looks away, like a scared child who’s got no excuse for his actions.
“So can I ask what happened? Or do I get the silent answer as always?” Mary says.
“Let’s just say that Vegas and I fucked something up and nearly got the three of us killed over a game of poker,” Bones says.
“Oh, boys,” Mary says shaking her head.
She kisses Ricky on the cheek before walking her way into the kitchen. The magnetic letters on the kitchen door spell out “blow m3”.
“I’ve gotta get going, but when I get back, I want full details,” she says.
Martirio watches as her hips sway from side to side with every stride. She opens the door and turns around, catching Martirio as he stares.
“Goodbye, boys,” she says. “And Martirio, it was lovely meeting you.”
Martirio can do nothing but smile as she disappears out the back door.
