I can't say that I have a "favorite" poem. I have LOTS of favorites. I can't even say I have a favorite poet. There are too many.
But I went looking, and found this one. I first read it when I was in high school, and loved it so much that I crafted an entire poem of my own around the first two lines. I couldn't remember the name of the poem, OR who wrote it, but I remembered the words "when you are old and grey" and it was enough to find it! :)
When You Are Old
W.B. Yeats
When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.
