We are the Winners!!! The Great Cardboard Boat Race
So for 3-D design we had to design a cardboard boat and race it in the Tempe Town Lake. My partner Gus is a really nice 26 year old art student. We worked really well together and had lots of fun. Today was the race. The name of our boat is Trouble!! A black, stealth 14 foot wonder with flames ! There were over 100 entries and I was getting a little nervous at the start of our heat-the college heat. 2.26 minutes-best time and first place. On to the next heat with the fastest six boats of the hole race. First place 2.29 seconds. It was neck and neck for the first 100 yards-but we took off with super speed and passed everyone-first place. Now we were in the finals. Unfortunately we got wedged between two huge 8 man boats right out of the gate. And we were tied for last place-we pushed ahead as the crowd screamed for us to push ahead and we moved past boat after boat for second place over all 2.35 seconds!! It was crazy and fun and great! We did have the fastest speed of the day and we were the only crew to win 2, yes 2 categories. The college bowl and 2nd over all !! We each have a trophy ! And all I wanted out of it was to stay a float. So, life is great!!
