Saw x-men 3 over the weekend. I was lulled in by the encouraging trailers with promises of greatness. I dreamed of many characters from the comics appearing on film for the first time. I got crap. I won't give anything away, but if you are hoping to see patrick stewart or james marsden, you might want to pass on this film. stewart's role is brief and marsden's role could not in all fairness even qualify as a cameo more of an extended walk-on. this one is the halley berry show. so if you like to see killers turned actress portraying a crappy character to begin with this is the film for you.
on the upside you still get hugh jackman and ian mcklellan. grammer makes a fair beast and they do use him. the angel looks cool but they do not use him.Rouge is barely in the film and nightcrawler was smart enough to bamf away before filming began. kitty pryde finally gets some lines and gets to fight and after twenty years of hating the character in the comics she has finally won me over. she was the best thing about the movie.
they do have a few presents for comic fans. the danger room and quotes from the comics are cool. they made up some of the dumbest new mutants i have ever imagined. they even had a male version of marrow. at least they didn't use that guy with the worms growing out of his chest. i think they gave callisto super speed instead of using quicksilver. and another girl named arclight who may be a female havoc, not sure.No gambit, but there is a guy with a baseball bat.
biggest plot mistake, magneto uses jamie maddox as a diversion. the multiple man is arguably one of the most powerful mutants. he beat the fantastic four by himself and could probably take magneto blindfolded..
