I keep trying to forget that the swine flu is circulating. Three people on my Friends List on Facebook are recovering from it (a flu, not necessarily THE flu, but really how many flu's are around right now?) The parenting community is loaded with moms asking how to take care of their kids when they are so sick. And even though I'm still healthy, I keep fearing the same thing. I have a VERY active and headstrong toddler who might be Houdini reincarnated. I've had to install double sided locks on all of my doors (including the bathroom.) If I get sick, he will be a nightmare to parent. And my husband is not around. He sleeps all day and goes to work at night. I'm totally freaking out.
The swine flu map of Long Island isn't looking so good for me. They're closing all of the school districts surrounding me. There are cases of toddlers and babies being admitted. My daughter has asthma already (although they refuse to diagnose it because she's under 1, she's still had to be treated for the symptoms. I guess they are hoping she grows out of it. So am I!) Infants and Toddlers with respiratory issues should not get the flu!
So these are the thoughts that are spinning around and around in my mind today (and for the past week.) I had thought it just disappeared because it was out of the news, but when the principal of the local school died of swine flu a few days ago, I looked into it and found out it is completely out of control.
Think I'll stay at home for a few months.
