I was up until two am reading Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight last night. I really didn’t want to put it down at two, but unless I was willing stay up literally all night, I wasn’t going to finish it, and I didn’t want to be zombie today. So right about the time Bella and Edward were returning home from their trip to the woods, I went to bed. Reading a book for hours at a stretch used to be standard for me, and staying up into the wee hours doing it wasn’t unusual either, but it’s been two or three years since I found a book that interested me that much.

The fascinating story is the reason I was up way past my bedtime, but the author interests me almost as much. Her writing style feels very real, and she talked a bit on her website about how the story came to be (it started with a dream) and how she got it published. Between her writing style and her personal story, I’m left feeling like, 'Hey, she’s just like me! Maybe I could write, too.'

It would absolutely not surprise me if Ms. Meyer turned out to be a Lois and Clark fan. Edward and Bella’s relationship is so similar! There’s even a part near the beginning where Edward tells Bella that trouble follows her around and that only she could get into so many scrapes in a sleepy town like Forks. HEE! Not to mention the whole man-with-special-and-kind-of-scary-gifts thing that’s going on, too.

I really could have a love affair with this book.
