bummer

I love Halloween. My favorite part, lately, has been giving out candy to the kids in my neighborhood. We joke that we give out the good candy to keep the kids from tagging our big white garage. It seems to work.   The garage has not had any graffiti appear on it nor has any of our property been molested.  It is also nice to help generate more of that sense of community.

This year, our number of visitors was, by far, the lowest yet.  I am saddened by this.  I am not entirely sure it was just the weather.  The media and scare mongers keep hyping the 'keep your kids safe and stay indoors'.  Why?  I still haven't been able to find any reports about poison or needles/pins/sharp things in candy that wasn't later found to have been done by the child's family.  I can't remember the last time that I heard of a child being run down by a motorist in the dark on Halloween.  When was the last time that some freak grabbed a kid out trick or treating?  I loved trick or treating when I could get away with it.  The last time I went I was, what, 14 or 15.  I am short so I could pull off younger back then.  I always went with a friend and we always had at least one parent with us so nothing bad ever happened.

I don't know.  I really hope it was just the weather.

Anyone want any candy?
