Pump up the music.

I love listening to fun and pumping tunes to really push me in my running training. I have one month before my first 5k and I am trying to work on building my stamina which will in turn lower my overall time. I don't expect to complete the race in less then 40 minutes, I am hoping for 45, anything less would just be a bonus. I mean until a couple of months ago I was not a runner, so I am a beginner, I am not an athlete, I was way outta shape since being immobilized by a pregnancy injury a year and half ago and then depression after that all resulted in my now being overweight and out of shape, which also has an impact on your running speed and stamina. So all of that to say, I am ok with doing my best even if I suck, cause with persistence I will get better.

I am at my mom's and she lives in rural Moncton, so big quiet roads, yesterday it was stunning out so I put on my running gear and hit the road, music of choice for yesterday was the Repo! Soundtrack, I love it sooooo much, I have a thing for the score of musicals and the extra emotion packed into those songs to add to the scene in question. Sigh! I love Anthony Steward Head :) I still tear up when I listen to "Didn't know I'd love you so much" when I initially saw Repo! this scene left me a hot mess. It's funny cause it's such a gory picture and yet there is sooo much emotion. Ok so I digress...Anyhow I had an amazing run, but realized my stamina on uneven country roads is not as good as that on a smooth even treadmill, on the treadmill I can now easily hold down 7 minutes run alternating with 2 minute walks, however on the road 5 was pushing myself. Since my goal was to get to 10 minutes run before the race, I have to keep practicing. Unfortunatly I am out for a couple of days after getting a REALLY bad blister on my heal yesterday, the entire back of my heal has now been peeled away in an exposed bloddy painful mess, so until that heals a little I won't be much good with the running :( not good as I have been running every other day to build stamina for the last 2 weeks.

My muscles hurt in places I didn't even know they could, like the inside of my legs, bottom to top and the muscles around my ankles, I guess they are strenghting cause I am not used to running, and your ankles require more support in a run then whilst walking. All in all, I am just excited to have a set a goal for myself, something tangible, and I need it as my legs have turned to absolute mush this past year. This way I hope to get fit and have fun, feeling better about myself.
