What is it with me and barfing kids?! Today one of my students for switch time (the grade levels switch kids for an hour for reading and writing, I have the top group)decided it would be a good idea to barf all over himself - didn't even try to get it in the trash can or lean forward but ALL OVER HIMSELF!!!! He also projectile vomitted onto another student, this students backpack, chair, and desk!!! Then decides to sit in it because I tell him to take it easy while trying to wrangle 23 students, who aren't mine to begin with, back to their classes 30 minutes early...Are you kidding me?!! My aid said I handled it well looking like it wasn't bothering me until she saw me turn my back to Dennis (Sir barfikins)and take a couple of deep breaths:) I can do a lot of things but puke is not one of them - especially when it is coming from a 7 year old that is not my child. What a day. The kids enjoyed our outside play learning how to arrange themselves in order to spell "because" for another 30 minutes while we aired out the room. Everyone got some hand sanitizer and we were on our way.
Jacob's mom, the kid who got barfed on, came back after recess with a new set of clothes and a new backpack. He is go getting to put 5 marbles in the jar!!! What dedication. To end the day we had MP soldiers come in and talk to us about the war in Iraq and what they did. My kids had great questions and were very well behaved. I am now going to have some tea and get myself full of vitamins so I can fend off whatever germs I was exposed to.
