Here in Canada, we really really like Margaret Atwood. Like, really. And, based on her actual writing, that's fair! Her books say some very interesting and important things!
But then she speaks, and,
well. I mean, I've been annoyed at Atwood since the time she decided she didn't write sci-fi, because her book had no space ships in and therefore it was "literature." But this-! Here are the things I have learned from this interview:
- Women have to pick up after our husbands because they're hunters and we're gatherers, so they can't see socks on the floor!
- The women in Handmaid's Tale aren't oppressed!
- Science doesn't kill rainforests, people do!
- People go to Toronto to cuddle bears because of Winnie the Pooh!
