Buffy Ste. Marie time

Because it's Canada Day, and she's objectively one of the best songwriters Canada has ever produced. Canadian Folky Singer-Songwriters are a thing because of her. I'm still unspeakably angry at her songs not being included in the '60s Medley Thing at the Junos this year even though Inane and Saliva Ian and Sylvia were. She was right there presenting an award, but they couldn't do one of her songs? What was that even. (And don't get me started on people who think Universal Soldier was Donovan's song.)

Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee (Unfortunately, people close to the person with the camera talk over the song a bit. Still the best quality version I could find that didn't cut off part of the song.)

Cod'ine (The only live version I could find was only the first half of the song, so you get this one.)

Cripple Creek, with harmony from a Muppet horse. Ah, Sesame Street.

My dad was a Yorkville hippie, so my benchmark for what musical knowledge is "normal" is kind of skewed? I'm still continually surprised that a lot of people don't know Buffy. So, if you're one of the people who didn't, now you do! She's still around and has been around forever, so there's a tremendous back catalogue everyone should check out. I just picked out a few gems that a) I like and b) I could find easily on youtube, but if I had more time I could be here posting her songs all day.
