Have just made A's bday cake - Boston Creme Pie from SCRATCH! All of it! The cakes are my usual low-risers but the chocolate ganache and creme patisserie are good enough to make me want to dip myself into a vat of each. It wasn't actually that hard, either - used the recipe from HTBADG and damn, I feel entitled to call myself a Domestic frickin' Goddess.
And I'm extra proud that I've made it and will take it along to the inlaws' this weekend so I won't be tempted to nosh half of it after his bday, when it's just sitting around, weeping sad tears of wanting to be scoffed.
