Work and trying to get it done- I hate technology

Those of you reading
liasbluestones LJ will know re-cabling occurred over the weekend. This went surprisingly well, although I couldn't actually get into my workroom to work until about 4pm on Monday. Normally I don't work bank holidays (been there done that for too many years) however the time taken to get the house vsior ready on Friday ate into my work day and meant I needed to to catch up.
When himself was moving furniture and the level of dustbunnyness was evident I then ended up cleaning the workroom rather than sewing. So although I did some work it wasn't quite enough to catch up.
No panic, I had the essentials done and I planned to catch up today, can you guess where this is going?
Its started well enough until the moron from Streamline arrived. The phone extension wasn't working he said.
Umm see this phone, see this plug. When I plug one into the other...oooh listen to the pretty dial tone.
Ahh but it's the wrong sort of connection.
Hmmm, looking at the terminal instructions it says *standard phone socket* that's what it is...
So in the interests of getting the job done I suggested he did the connection in the dining room, directly in the wall socket.
Ahh thats whats wrong, your internet must be crashing all the time says he.
Nope rock steady, never get a problem
well it's all plugged together wrong. (and proceeds to swap micro filters and extension sockets around.)
He then plugged the machine in but it still didn't work. A call to the help desk confirmed the account was not yet set up.
Another delay while they did that
So he dials in, downloads the terminal info , gives me my *training* in broken English, and goes.
So I sat down to have lunch and read email, catch up with LJ. Sort out my internet banking.
No Internet
Reboot server, still no internet. log in to router and try to connect manually. Nope. It's trying, judging by the flashing lights worthy of a 70's disco. No success though.
A call to my own personal help desk (guess who?) confirms that he got the order of micro filter/phone etc very wrong (I sort of knew that but didn't know the previous config, being of the poor weak girlie disposition.)
Plug in properly and  bingo I has internet.
So I thought I would move the terminal to where I wanted it and try myself. A short call to the help desk in order to put a dummy transaction through proved it works fine in the extension (although there may have been a problem downloading the set up info from there)
So 3 hours of work not done but I am now chipped and pinned.
