1. People keep giving me credit for teaching Dot to be bi-lingual. While I wish this was true, her sign language is really abbreviated from ASL, and some signs are completely different. It's really just a shortcut for us in communicating since she can't speak much yet. I doubt that she'll come out of this able to have a conversation with a deaf person. Thanks, though, for thinking I was that cool...
2. Dot MADE UP her own sign. It took us a couple of days to figure out what she was saying, but it apparently means "up" or "down," depending on the situation. It's nothing we taught her; she made it up completely by herself and then taught it to us through repetition.
